US RELEASE DATE: 10 DECEMBER 1999 MPAA RATING: R STUDIO: WARNER BROTHERS
Director
:- Martin Scorsese
The ever busy Nicolas Cage teams up with one of the greatest directors of all time, Martin Scorsese, in this bleak tale. Cage plays Frank Pierce, a burned-out Hell's Kitchen paramedic, on the verge of being fired. The toll of his tiresome job has put him in sight of a nervous breakdown, when he is haunted by the ghosts of those who died, while under his care. This in due course causes him to re-think the life he leads.
The concept seems original enough. The actors are very good. The director is one of the best. No problems? Well I am not sure. The story is definetely not for the faint hearted. Cage had a string of blockbusters, which eventually succumbed with Snake Eyes and 8MM, so he'll be looking for a hit with this movie. Scorsese had a critical hit with Kundun last year, but this will be the first in a series of films with leading stars, that hopefully will make him a box-office darling as well as critics. Paul Schrader, the screenwriter has collaborated before with Scorsese to produce the stunning movie that was Taxi Driver, implying that this movie will be quite mellow. Overall the strong cast and crew in front of and behind the camera ensure that this film is worth watching.
If you have any reviews of this movie, please and I'll include it on this page.
